You’re likely on this page to learn a bit more about me as a content strategy consultant or maybe even just as a person, so I’ll share a bit of my journey here.
I’m passionate about content marketing and using it to grow businesses online.
Y’know… creating content strategies, content creation, distribution, and all that.
It’s really my jam; and it’s been that for, like, seven years now.
My journey so far
Let me start here: I’m an entrepreneur.
And like most entrepreneurs, I’ve got big dreams.
Some entrepreneurs have their entrepreneurial passion in software, agriculture, aviation, etc…
Me? Mine is especially around online businesses.
(I know that’s broad since you can have an online business in any of those industries, but flow with me; you’ll soon see how it ties back into content marketing.)
My first foray into the online business world was in 2012 or 2013 (I can’t remember which year in particular, but it’s 2012/13).
I’d just heard about forex trading and was ready to go all in.
After eight months of studying and demo trading, I started real trading (if you’ve ever traded forex, you’ll know what demo vs real trading is).
But long story short, it failed โ woefully. I lost money; all the tiny capital I put into it.
Eventually, I stopped forex trading and googled “ways to make money online.”
As you know, a search like that would return thousands of results. Anyway, I clicked one of those results and discovered something called “freelance writing.”
It was my first time learning about it, so I took some time to educate myself, and found it promising. Just write and get paid? Love it.
But it didn’t take too long before I realized it wasn’t just about writing and getting paid.
My #1 goal was to start an online business and get paid, but I quickly realized I’d have to solve problems for people to earn a living in writing or in any business at all.
That means, if I’m writing, I have to write really well. If it’s forex trading, I have to make well-calculated trading decisions. If I’m selling software, it has to solve real problems for people.
You get the idea: whatever the online business; I had to do it well.
Long story short…
I kicked off with freelance writing in 2014 but 2017 was when I really started making good money with it. It was how I got into the marketing โ or more specifically โ the content marketing space.
Since then, I’ve been planning and writing content for several B2B and SaaS businesses across North America and Europe. And my work has been published in well-known publications like Forbes, The Next Web, Inc., and many others.
